Russia 2028: Odds and Ends

     As I finally wrap up this project, I have some final odds and ends that I have collected over time, some pretty cool stuff. First up is this timeline that I made, which roughly encapsulates the brief history that players would need to know. 

Early 1990s - One of the two companies that form into Kernigan Co. begins as an armed escort for shipments into and out of Mexico, due to gang violence and raids on cargo in and out of the country. Kernigan Co. and Red Bird Security merger into KerniSec Security Company. 

1994 - A british veteran enlists in a mission against pirates, on a vessel going along the horn of Africa. After two voyages (including one failed mission) he forms SafeSea Maritime Paramilitary Company. 

1999 through 2010s - KerniSec and SafeSea merge into United Security Private Military Company, participating in the Invasion of Iraq. They were the only company to not have scandals during this conflict. They were strictly professionals. 

~2005 - The Norvinsk Special Economic is created by the Kremlin, to act as a financial gateway to western Europe. Many companies immediately move there due to tax breaks and government incentives, like financial grants. They are also lenient on laws, attracting scum and villainy into the streets of Tarkov.*

~2010 - TerraGroup "Agricultural Science" Company hires USEC to protect all of their facilities, in an exclusive contract. 

October, 2010 - A conflict broke out between USEC mercenaries and FSB operatives at 'Ground Zero', marking the start of the Contract Wars. Shortly after, Russian BEAR (Battle Encounter Assault Regiment) operatives are seen in the region, in direct open conflict with members of USEC. 

December, 2015 - The Conflict goes from being secretive and looking like gang violence, to full blown conflict. The Russian Armed Forces were deployed to the zone, to secure the region. UNTAR is formed. 

2016 - An EMP is detonated over the city, causing most electronic devices and all cars to cease functionality. UNTAR begins their evacuation efforts. 

2017 - Most of the evacuations have finished, the borders closing. The Walls are erected around NSEZ and command is cut off. 

2018+ - The city is mostly in ruins, starting the Escape from Tarkov era. The area gets more overgrown and desolate, with people getting more desperate for loot and supplies. Most items people will find are junk parts, and characters heavily rely on pure junk items, air drops, and traders to survive.

* - Before 2005, there was a small city and some villages where the Norvinsk Special Economic Zone was placed, but it was mostly rural and agricultural. There was also a nature preserve here, which has been there for a good while, where a few hunters (including Partizan and Jaeger) got together and hunted as groups.

    Some other interesting things I have collected are mostly old images and concept art from the earliest days of Russia 2028 and EFT development. I am going to share one of my favorite pieces below. One of the art pieces is even the banner of this blog.
