The Great Dungeon Crawl, Session 6: Points Galore!

July 11th, 1084 Korlai Reckoning.
Recap written by Arthur

Characters:
Terragen as "Bea" [136]
Krusher as "Fleck" [114]
Arthur as "Lyons" [109]
Void as "Ofydd" [104]

On the 11th, Bob's Berserkers inc. was summoned to the castle by royal decree of his majesty King Winston II, of a forgotten (by the GM) house. Upon arrival to Castle Berry, the present members entered, hearing rumours of a gryphon along the way (Lyons placed a bet on that being their task. It wasn't), and introduced themselves to the king and his wife Cleopatra. The king, a tall handsome black man in his 60s with the look of a conqueror to be and no flaws whatsoever, received them and gave them the task of delivering a parcel to Himmel castle some 115 miles from there.

They were then ushered out by the chancellor, who later explained that the task would earn them the kings favour and possibly tax exemptions for the sale of loot. They may also now use the teleportation facilities at a discounted, but still steep, price. Upon receiving the scroll case that was the parcel they departed by boat to Coral, where they searched in vain for a Temple of Sif and bought some supplies and scrolls (of cure disease, remove curse, and divine intervention). In Coral, it was heard that everyone with knowledge of the making of enchanted weapons and armor is gone, though there may be some in Adnen's Tomb and there exists a magical warhammer called Sif's knuckle.

From there, they hired dwarves who would excavate in exchange of an 8% cut and a mule and made to Palach'Mar's tomb, an ancient dwarven king. No kerfuffles were had on the 2 day journey there but another mercenary company of a feew dozen combatants with varying levels of equipment had arrived before them and laid claim to the tomb and its spoils.

Lyons talked to a sergeant and discovered they were a mercenary company and were awaiting another detachment coming from Ka'ul before beginning the excavation and would not let the party explore it. The party, mostly the Dwarves and Bea, frighted the mercenaries with tales of a curse called Palach'Mar's Wrath and undead curses that may lie there. An agreement was reached of splitting the spoils 50/50 party/mercenaries if the adventurers would go first and deal with any supernatural threats.

The Dwarves struck the Earth and soon the tomb was breached. the party descended the 50 feet deep shaft with a rope and all but Bea, who slid down the rope by accident and was made into a holy pancake, reached the ground safely and explored the one room tomb. In the tomb, Fleck forced open a sarcophagus that revealed a fortune in treasure, but brought sickness and a curse of bad luck upon all who were present, consisting of the Unluckiness disadvantage and a horrible sickness.

Not willing to settle for merely half a fortune, they called the Dwarves and, after making sure they weren't missing any secret compartments or passages, used a scroll of divine intervention to teleport to the nearest church with their loot, all the while screaming and leaving behind small clumps of ash to make it seem to the mercenaries they were smitten down by curses. Now in safety, they rest, heal, and appraise their loot.

The loot contained a set of silvery dwarven mail that was unfortunately dwarf-sized, a golden key, ornate dwarven weapons (a dagger, a long axe and a warhammer), two tomes in dwarven ('the Journal of King Palach'Mar' and the 'Tome of Valor'), a possibly enchanted coin purse filled with gold and platinum coins, and an ordinary wooden shield. It was later decided by the stay-at-home-wizard that the coin purse was just set on a magical item and thusly appeared magical.

    No notes were provided.

GM's Notes
Session 5 was recapless(!), as the party did not write one up. Thus, we skipped from 5 to 6. This was a crazy session for a bunch of reasons, including the fact that the party basically got a bunch of treasure and a crazy curse that they cannot dispel and must buy off using points. The recap required some editing, as Arthur is not a native English speaker, but his writing style and personality still shines through.

We are not playing on the 18th, but we should resume normal play on the 25th. The party is excited for more delving and treasure gathering. I need to check back on if the listed advancement notes are proper, but they did gain 10pts overall (including the one point for attendance) during the session, then six points due to a tradition that we have at my tables.

Character Advancement
    +2pts from Loot
    +1pts from Roleplay
    +6pts from Exploration
    +0pts from Freeing Prisoners
    +6 Bonus Points
    No Characters Died
    Total: +16 points
