This turn lasted from the 31st of August to the 6th of September.
Some interesting things this week, ladies and gentlemen. Some wars are a brewin' in the County. Plus, we had our first battle this week!
Mountaineering Adventurers
A relatively large and well-equipped band of adventurers was seen exploring the cliffs south of Skafith's Peaks, looking for ruins. Their allegiance was unclear, but they were rumored to have uncovered an ancient tomb there. Unmarked scouts were also seen exploring and charting the region.
More Unidentified Scouts
In the wake of the recent skirmish near Oxton, rumors of banditry and unidentified riders continue along the roads, but no reliable new information has emerged concerning the movements or activities of any adventuring company in the area.
Even MORE Unidentified Scouts
Travelers along the roads between Trollbridge and Oxton have reported an increasing number of armed patrols in the region. The soldiers carry no clear heraldry, though rumors among travelers and merchants suggest that some believe the men may have come from the direction of Hochmoor.
Orcs Amassing
Deep in the Moorlands, orcs were seen amassing underneath similar colors: a copper pale over a sable backdrop. These colors (and this banner) are unknown to both historians and barons alike. Rumors are spreading of some federation of orcs in the Moorlands rising again.
Patrols in Saquedall
Many soldiers bearing the colors of Baron Saquedall were seen patrolling the roads in his Barony this week, looking for trouble. No trouble was actually found, reportedly. Rumors have it that the inciting event for this was the general tension between the dwarves and high elves.
Bugbears near Blackriver Bay
A group of bugbears was spotted near Blackriver Bay, scouting and trekking around. They weren't armed very well and carried no distinguishable colors, but the locals were nervous regardless upon hearing this. The bugbears disappeared before any local forces could do anything about it.
[042.060] Dwarves and Elves Skirmish near Thrur
An ambush on a dwarven caravan happened early in the morning on Wednesday, perpetrated by High Elves. However, the caravan was actually a trap set by the Chieftain of Thrur, who hid dwarven soldiers instead of the cargo. This worked flawlessly! The elves were routed without any casualties, though wounds were inflicted, and the dwarves were victorious.
High Elves working with the Count of Dirk?
Reports from several men traveling through the grassy hills of the south state that, on multiple occasions, High Elves armed with bows have been sighted patrolling the forest bordering those hills. One man reported that his group was hailed from the treeline and asked whom they served and whether they were the Count’s men. When he replied that they were not, the elves drove them off with arrow fire.
Another group, less forthcoming, lied and claimed they were indeed the Count’s men, hoping his good name would spare them trouble. Their gamble paid off. The elves merely told them to remember the Count’s orders and to piss off and stay away from the forest. No arrows were fired.
Gnoll Merchants?
A gnoll was seen near both Aberdeen and Blyth, on the fringes of the settled regions of both settlements, speaking with somewhat shady looking folk in Human, something that is extremely weird for a gnoll to do. Further, it seemed that the gnoll was selling gemstones to the shady people. The gnoll evaded capture both times when spotted, as did the shady folk. Nobody knows what the intentions were or what was really sold.
Assassinations in Blackriver Bay
Two assassinations happened this week in Blackriver Bay: an elf and a half-elf. They were both horribly flayed and pinned to the walls in their homes, which were sacked completely. The assassinations were especially grotesque and brutal. The two elven kin had no relation to one another besides both being elves. The local populous is on edge and slightly panicking due to this.
