Tarkov City, Therapist's Apartment Building

Finally back at Therapist's office, Berkut was dragged into immediate care, while Dyavol and Priyatel prepared to get some rest. Just as they did, a fellow member of the "Sherst" BEAR section walked into the apartment. He looked quite battered. He explained that he was the sole survivor of an ambush involving IEDs or another explosive from a very organized group of soldiers. They were wearing mostly black or darkened US MOUT "T-Pattern" camouflage. They struck exactly ten minutes before the blue flame, and had mostly matching equipment. They also had restricted or experimental military equipment, but no clear identification. You managed to escape despite scavengers picking over the disfigured bodies of your companions. Using a map you found on your teamlead, you managed to locate Therapist's apartment in hopes to link up with any survivors from the "Sherst" section. Once introductions were made, they were too tired to continue talking, and went to take a rest in Therapist's hideout.

The group then squandered almost two weeks away, while discussing their new ROE as well as general tactics and contingency plans. Priyatel suggested using some US Marine MOUT tactics, from a manual of sorts he found on a USEC on the 26th. Once they concluded their rest, on the 10th of July, they prepared their plan for a raid. They decided to go to the local library, which they hoped to be found in the school, to find both the census and the teaching records. At this point, both wounds had been sufficiently healed by Therapist. In addition to costs for staying at Therapist's, Berkut also handed over a large sum of cash, which she had asked for.

Moving out as a complete fireteam now, it was decided that Medoyed would be the group's Automatic Rifleman, while Dyavol would be the Breacher and Grenadier, Berkut would be the Rifleman, and Priyatel would be Teamlead. Off the bat, they moved north towards the school that they had heard about from soldiers that had came in and out of Therapist's hideout over the period that they had stayed there.

They passed a restaurant called Jimmy's Pizzeria and a TarBank outlet on the way. A TarBank transport truck was also seen, but the back door was blasted apart already, and it seemed like it was robbed as well. Finally arriving at the school, they found a set of locked entry doors. Dyavol pried them open with his fancy Titanium Prybar, and then the group moved in. They heard lots of gunshots from upstairs, as well as shouting in both Russian, as well as some English and possibly Finnish. They cleared the ground floor, but failed to spot and clear a hallway on the bottom. The lunch room that they came into was notably picked clean, though the kitchen was locked.

Moving up the stairs, Priyatel went first around the corner towards the shouting, as the gunfire had died down. He quickly heard "contact" in Russian, followed by frantic followed up variations of "don't shoot!" and "friendly!". He also saw a possibly dead BEAR, with his leg blasted very badly. After quick deliberation, the group moved into the hallway. At the other end of the hallway, which the friendly shouting came from, a BEAR operative turned on a gun-light. Head attached flashlights on Dyavol and Berkut revealed that there were two BEAR operatives at the end of the hall (both carrying AK-15K rifles, with flash hiders and stubby horizontal foregrips) as well as a USEC PMC carrying a rather nice looking LMG, which appeared to be a M240B, but was later clarified to be a C6 Canadian LMG.

The BEARs signaled that they were friendly, but that their friend was "300th". Dyavol and Berkut cleared a room next to the injured BEAR, which was a computer lab that was seemingly picked clean. As they looted the computer lab, the injured BEAR woke up. He began violently screaming in pain, mostly about how he couldn't feel his leg or pleas for morphine. Eventually someone gave him something to bite down on and he quieted down. Dyavol tried to apply a tourniquet, but horrendously failed, and blood from the leg shot directly into his eye. Priyatel then lightly pushed Dyavol aside in a friendly manner, and took care of the injury.

As this was going on, Medoyed watched the hallway that separated the Fireteam and the friendly BEAR group. He was informed, via gestures, that hostiles were at the end of the hallway. He then attempted to pie the corner, but from the darkness, he was shot at. He quickly stepped back and checked himself for injuries, but found none. His plate caught the bullet. The bullet gave little force, but still knocked the wind out of Medoved.

After that, the opposing friendly group stacked up on the northern wall, while Medoyed and Priyatel stacked up on the southern side. Dyavol prepared explosives using his caulking gun (loaded with extrudable explosives) on the north-eastern wall of the computer lab while Berkut dragged the wounded BEAR to a safe location. Dyavol fumbled around for a while, getting it set up correctly, but eventually got it ready to go. The friendly group also prepared a flashbang to be thrown. On a cue, they both fired off their weapons at the same time. First, the caulk explosives went off, which instantly killed one of the enemy scavengers on the other wall. Immediately after, the flashbang popped, dazing the raider on the northern wall of the hallway.

Priyatel then instantly stepped towards the hall, and fired shots at the raider, killing him instantly with three bullets to the torso of 7.62×54mmR BS "Enhanced Armor Piercing" rounds from his SVU-A. After the chaos had died down, the allied BEAR team lead told Priyatel that there was an enemy within the door close, on the north door of the hallway. The allied BEAR then moved to that door with Priyatel to clear it, with Priyatel opening the door for the BEAR. Once it was opened, the BEAR made quick work of the scavenger inside the room.

The scavengers were four strong, though one had already been killed before the Fireteam got to the school. They wore irregular fatigues, mostly consisting of formal button-up shirts, hoodies, and jackets. One of them wore a bomber jacket, but it was riddled with bullet holes from the C6 that was most likely fired down the hall. They had no real armor, besides one of them, who wore a make-shift EOD suit, cobbled together from various DAPs, armored gloves, leather boots cut up, 6B45 neck/groin attachments, as well as extended arm pieces from a 6B43 vest. In the end, it was found that he was not wearing plates at all in this makeshift armor, which got him killed.

One of them also had an extremely irregular gun. It was some sort of home-made firearm, with parts from both a PPSh and a TOZ-16, a bolt action civilian .22 rifle. It had been franken-gunned into a disgusting bolt action PPSh-TOZ monster. When Dyavol saw this, he quickly bashed it to bits any way he could, leaving it a mess of parts across the room. Other than this, they only found a "sticky" singular page from an erotic magazine, which, for obvious reasons, no one took.

At this point, they cleared the rest of the building, then began to converse. Their teamlead introduced himself as "Lapka", a member of the "Otter" (or "Vydra") fireteam. The Tourist was nicknamed "Texas", while the uninjured BEAR was introduced as "Bombard" or "Finn", as he was Finnish. This is unusual, as BEAR does not usually hire from outside of the Russian Federation, Ukraine, and Kazakhstan. The injured BEAR was reported to be nicknamed "Navod". They had little to share, but said that they would meet with the Fireteam once they could return to Therapist's hideout, where the Otter fireteam would take "Navod".

After the Otter fireteam departed, the Fireteam decided to pillage the top floor of the school. They found some general computer supplies, as well as the Teaching Record that Therapist had asked for. They then moved downstairs, at which point Priyatel spotted the hallway that they missed. Clearing it, in the final room, they found an unconscious Janitor. Once he woke up, he introduced himself as Fillip, and asked what was all going on. Instead of a straight answer, the group just told him that he'd be safest if he went to a safehaven, which he agreed to.

As the group departed the school, they realized they had not checked the kitchen. Right as Dyavol planned to open it up forcefully, the Janitor pulled out a set of keys and opened the kitchen. Inside were various cleaning supplies, but no food or otherwise useful equipment. They assumed that most of the food and otherwise useful supplies were looted here during their absence at Therapist's hideout.

Moving outside of the school, the group attempted to stack up outside of the building, but Priyatel was quickly shot at by an enemy. The enemy missed. Everyone reacted accordingly. Priyatel aimed a shot at one of the gunners, while Medoyed dolphin dived and began firing at the enemy in an act of suppression. He miraculously managed to hit five of the ten shots he fired doing this! All five hit the gunner which he identified had an SKS with a PSO-1 dovetail mounted scope.

Before he dolphin dived, he actually used his keen eyes to tell exactly what they were armed with. The first, armed with the SKS, was wearing a 6Sh104 load bearing rig, spraypainted to fit the dark brown and mustard yellow Gorka-3 he was wearing. He had no armor, though he did have a black service cap, as well as ear plugs. He was kneeling. The second, behind him and partially covered by an engine block, was wearing old Russian military fatigues. Most of his equipment seemed to be dated to around the First Chechen War. He was armed with a PP-2000, as well as a 6B12 (with a Flora camouflage pattern) and a green 6b47, with no cover. He was notably lacking a load bearing rig, but had a raid backpack on as well as a battle belt that stored two additional mags as well as a medium sized flash light.

Medoyed managed to completely kill the first target, destroying his equipment completely, besides his firearm. His body was so damaged that he split into three pieces! The second then promptly pissed himself and dropped his weapon, cowering in complete fear. The group then traded pot-shots at him, until he fell unconscious. It was not clear if this was from damage or from the pure mental shock of what happened to his buddy. The Fireteam, with the Civilian, then came over and secured their kill. The raid backpack was pawned off to be carried by Fillip, while the guns were strapped to various bags. The armor was not taken off of the body, as they deemed it not useful for its weight.

They then returned to Therapist's hideout, and "turned in" Fillip to her as part of her tasks, but kept the bag and firearms. The Fireteam also turned in the teaching record as she requested. She was almost completely satisfied, but still asked for the census. They decided that they could get this after a short five minute break, as the past forty-five minutes or so were extremely strenuous on them.

Some members of the Fireteam took this time to ask the Otter fireteam some questions. Of them, they learned that they would head to the port with their injured friend as soon as possible, and that it was a 30mi (49km) straight shot to the coastline. Both groups wished each other the best, especially since both knew that they were the only truly friendly faces they'd seen in a while.

What was notable was the Otter fireteam's clothing. The contrast between the black and forest green BEAR uniform and the Crye Gen2 combat fatigues that the USEC PMC use were quite interesting, as well as the gear differences. Texas also had a particularly large rig and backpack, to store rounds for his C6 LMG. His C6 also had the C79 rifle scope on it. Despite his nickname, he made it clear he was actually from Calgary, Canada. He did not make it clear how he obtained such weaponry.

GM's Notes
This session was a blast! While there were some situations and descriptions that were somewhat unrealistic, I tried to provide an accurate simulation of military tactics and combat. The group also adopted strategies used by the United States Marine Corps to much success in this session, as well as the standard Fireteam structure. Overall, it was a great session, and I am looking forward to more. A sequential blog post regarding the group's tactical structure will follow!
