As I have finally finished version 3 of my house rules, I decided to rewrite my last article for my expanded rules; this time maybe fate will prevent our heroes from surviving! Last time, this series proved to me that it was pretty fun writing this stuff up, so I might turn this into a series if I happen into a lot of free time. The write-ups are shortened as most of the stuff was simply to show how characters are built in ways that makes them effective in combat as well as fine for role-playing. The background for this one is that Mark of Thalm is on a stroll when he is ambushed; nothing complex.

Turn Order
The turn order is as follows:
Mark of Thalm
Dietrich
Gernot
Turn 1
Mark of Thalm prepares to strike at whomever comes within striking range of him first. This costs 0 AP for now.
Dietrich runs forward, costing him 3 AP.
This trigger's Mark's wait, costing him 1 AP. Dietrich defends with a block, costing him another AP. Mark rolls against 16-1 (from encumbrance). He succeeds by 5. Dietrich attempts to defend, rolling against 13. He fails by 1 (unlucky!).
Mark rolls his 2d+2 cut, with a result of 10 cutting. The target's thick gambeson protects him for 1×2 against his blade, for 8 cutting. This 8 cutting to the torso results in a Severity 7 wound, causing agonizing pain. This pain deals him 7 AP damage. Dietrich fails his knockdown roll by -7, meaning he is knocked unconscious. He is bleeding.
Gernot runs forward, making a move and attack, costing him 3 AP (2 from movement, 1 from attack). Mark declares a block, costing him 1 AP. He succeeds his attack, but grazes. Mark succeeds his defense anyway, making the point moot.
Turn 2
Mark of Thalm makes a Committed Attack at Gernot, applying two levels of deceptive. This costs him 2 AP. Gernot declares a block, costing him 1 AP. Mark misses by 1.
Gernot attempts a Defensive Attack at Mark, rolling at 14. Success by 5. Mark then tries to defend, rolling at 12. Success by 6.
Turn 3
Mark makes an All-Out Attack (Determined) at Gernot, with two levels of deceptive. Gernot declares a retreating block. Mark makes it at MoS 1. Gernot attempts to defend, but fails, at MoF 5. Mark deals another 10 damage, resisted by 1×2 against the foe's armor, for 8 cutting. This 8 cutting to the torso results
in a Severity 7 wound, causing agonizing pain. This pain deals him 7 AP
damage. Gernot fails his KD/Stun roll by 2, meaning he is knocked down and stunned, but he succeeds his consciousness roll by 3. He is in Agonizing pain. He is bleeding.
Gernot rolls around on the floor in pain.
Turn 4
Mark drops his sword, fast-draws his dagger, and Evaluates, while crouching and stepping into Gernot's hex (not represented on the map). This costs him 2 AP. His recovery roll succeeds by 1, recovering him 1 AP overall.
Gernot loses 20 AP and writhes around on the floor in pain.
Turn 5
Mark makes a telegraphic AoA (Strong) at Gernot's skull (using his Targeted Attack), at a bonus of +5. Gernot cannot defend as he is in Agony and on the floor. The roll succeeds by 10, critically succeeding! He rolls a 7, meaning his skull hit is instead an eye hit! He rolls 2d6 imp, with a result of 8. Gernot takes a crippling eye hit (Severity 14; Instant Destruction) as well as an instantly fatal Severity 12 hit to the skull. Gernot is dead.
Notes
Wow. This is a lot more brutal than I remembered. Dietrich and Gernot did not stand a chance. If I did the original fight circumstances, things might have been slightly different. The armor rules as well as the innate weapon AD rules accomplishes exactly what I wanted. Mark might as well have been an unkillable juggernaut with his armor! This was my first time using The Last Gasp in combat, and it worked super well. There are some things I wasn't super clear on, but that is how it works when you are writing in Pyramid; sometimes you need to cram a bunch of information dense text into a small article. The Alternate Severity progression also works fine, which I already knew, but I still want to say.
