County of Pilzstein, Pilzstein

Upon awakening, the band came to find themselves three members short. The cleric known as Das was nowhere to be found, his dogs were gone too. Taken or fled into the night as strangers dressed in black were seen walking the walls of Pilzstein. Despite this, the group decided that there were more pressing concerns, as they still had the problem of transporting their box into town.

Word from the guard was that on the morrow Sir Taurian would personally inspect the band and determine if they were fit to enter Pilztein or not. The band decided that Aleksander was their best chance of getting in, and if he was able to get in alone and inform George the Litigant of the package, then perhaps a way of getting it to him would open to them.

Aleksander met Sir Taurian at the gate and submitted to a search, which felt strangely sexual. Aleksander explained that he had a message, though not an actual letter, for a man by the name of George who happened to be a litigant. Thankfully, Sir Taurian knew exactly who this man was and agreed to take Aleksander to him. After a short tour of the city and the sighting of a heretic upon the star of punishment, Aleksander was brought to the local Rathaus, which laid beneath the keep.

Finally having met George the Litigant after so long, Aleksander was at first unable to properly convey to George that he had brought the package he requested. Aleksander had to lie at first, but upon the mention of Carter's name, George understood the message and bade that they speak in private. Aleksander demanded that they be compensated more for the draugr that had beset them on the road, obviously implying that they had an idea of what was in the package. George refused and suggested that Aleksander get the package in somehow by a favor with the guard or Sir Taurian himself. Aleksander left to inform the group of this.

Upon arriving back in the camp, Aleksander informed the group of what had transpired and they were still at a lost of what to do. When Manwell finally piped up and informed the group as his status as a noble, which came as a shock and a surprise, but not entirely so. Manwell was very well dressed and equipped, so it was not entirely surprising that he was a noble. Either way, they decided that if they could get in with Manwell's status and not be forced to submit to a search, then they could easily deliver the package to George. And so, this is what they did.

The band delivered their package to George, and they were paid the amount agreed upon. A little extra to each individual due to Das's disappearance.

With the mission fulfilled, the group now had fuller pockets and their sights were now fixated upon the local tourney. With the exclusiveness of only nobles being able to participate in the tourney, as is tradition, the group decided to place their bets upon Manwell. They knew he was a good fighter and the only one of noble status within the Band. Therefore they bought and dyed a tabard for him and enrolled him in the lists. With supreme confidence, they placed almost all of the money they had earned from their mission as a bet upon Manwell. Which they swiftly lost as Manwell dropped his weapon in the first bout, and in his second bout, a floundering in his attack led to him falling prone.

The group was dejected and disappointed, feeling like fools and jesters. The only hope that kept them going on that dark day was Manwell being able to get a job from Sir Taurian, to protect a caravan as it traveled south. The pay was twice of that of their last job, so they immediately perked up again like the good little wage-slaves they are.  As they waited for the caravan to depart Manwell requested lodging as befits a noble and his men within the keep. He was granted a bedroom, and the others were given to the dormitories.

However, the next day, a messenger burst through the doors of the keep, alerting the nobles that the settlement of Fische was under attack! The nobles immediately prepared for battle and Sir Taurian pointed at Sir Manwell, asking if he would aid in their fight. Manwell agreed. The rest of the group was unhappy with this, but now they must comply, as to do otherwise would be tantamount to desertion.

So, now thrust into war, the Band of the Hare was split amongst three cohorts. Aleksander with the Archery cohort, Raenius, Gaabriel, and Arlan with the Infantry cohort, and Sir Manwell with the Cavalry.  Spurred into a forced march, the 80-man army of Pilzstein made their way to Fische. On the eve, the army was so tired from the forced march that they simply ate their food and fell into their bedrolls, with no time for socializing or training.

On the morning of the next day, the forces clashed upon the field, but the battle was quick and decisive. The Pilzstein archery cohort devastated one of the Eisenburg infantry cohorts with volley after volley, and the other two Eisenburg infantry cohorts were outmatched by the combined strength of the warriors of The Hare and the Pilzstein Men-At-Arms. The Eisenburg cavalary did not fare well either, as they were quickly destroyed by the Pilzstein cavalry.

With minimal losses, the Pilzstein forces had sent the Eisenburg army into a rout, but with nowhere to run, for a river passage blocked their escape, the majority of their army was killed or captured. During the battle, Aleksander was able to capture a moment of heroism for himself within the midst of battle. With a single well-placed shot, he felled a yeoman, his arrow piercing the neck and severing the spinal cord of said yeoman. Claiming it as his kill, he earned glory and the nickname of "The Arrow".

Within the settlement of Fische, the forces of Pilzstein celebrated their resounding victory. Drinking themselves to a stupor and enjoying the fruits of their labor. The band was also paid handsomely, with Manwell and Aleksander receiving additional compensation, Manwell being a noble, and Aleksander for distinguished service. It had also appeared that Aleksander had been noticed by Sir Taurian for his accomplishments upon the battlefield, and when approached by a drunken Taurian, Aleksander would not say no to a man of such noble status. Nor would he forgo the opportunity to get in good with the nobility. It was thenceforth decided that despite his nickname, Aleksander was deceivingly not as straight as the nickname, "The Arrow" might imply.

GM's Notes
This was a pretty interesting session. I messed up the Tactical Mass Combat rules though, so the battle was won with minimal losses on one side and total death on the other. Whoops. I also started to have my players write recaps for me.
